UN RCO Venezuela
The problem:
Venezuela’s July 2024 election will be largely influenced by geopolitical, political, and economic emerging risks. The UN Resident Coordinator wanted to develop a more holistic approach to risk analysis, broader than existing risk analysis, that took into consideration the country’s positioning in the region and its influencing factors.
The outcome:
The analysis supported coordinated decision-making across all UN agencies, and a broader inter-agency task force has been set up for continued risk monitoring.
Our approach:
A desk-based baseline horizon scan was undertaken, specifically looking at geopolitical, economic, and political risks that could influence the election. This was undertaken over a period of 2 weeks, and then validated and fleshed out with the UN country team.
Additionally, a framework was co-developed with UN RCO to utilize and make sense of horizon-scanning intelligence from February to June 2024, ensuring factors and risks are consistently monitored.
